The N637 Sub Rosa Celebrities, Presidents and Rulers set was likely issued during the 1880's hey day of tobacco cards. The cards are normal sized tobacco cards measuring 1-3/8" by 2-11/16" and are sepia line drawings or photo cards picturing their subjects.
This pair of N637 Sub-Rosa Celebrities, Presidents and Rulers cards include the subjects John Jay and Morrison Waite. The cards have both been skinned from the thick cardboard back but are intact otherwise. Both men were Chief Justices of the Supreme Court of the United States. Jay was the first and Waite the seventh. Great, historical lot.
