Great lot of this very popular late 19th and early 20th century actress. Sarah Bernhardt, the great nineteenth-century theatrical actress, was also the first major international film star. Bernhardt lived a very interesting life, and was known to take her career into her own hands rather than waiting on others, something that was rare for a woman of her time.
