Singer Sewing company issued a number of trade cards advertising their sewing machines in the late 1800's. The cards were generally in sets of 6, 8, 12 and different configurations. This set is one of the larger efforts for Singer and were issued for the 1893 Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois. The set is cataloged as H639 and pictures natives in costumes for a number of countries and cities or municipalities within the country. Some countries have a single example and others, like Spain, have up to 7 subjects.
This boxed set of (36) cards are largely in EXMT to NRMT condition and extremely clean. The box itself is included and is in poor condition.
