Auction #8 - June 2021

The Duke N117 Industries of States series pictures women dressed in what appears to be Greek or Roman garb next to a shield for the respective state represented. Since the cards were likely issued in the late 1880's to early 1890's the scantily clad women likely caused a stir. Many of the women sport a bare breast and little is done to cover them. The backs of the cards advertise Dukes Brands of Gail & Ax or Honest Long cut.
This lot of (10) cards from the N117 Industries of States set is a mixed-back accumulation of lower grade cards and includes the following subjects: Alabama (PSA1 Poor, Gail Ax back), Connecticut (PSA3 VG, Honest back), Georgia (PSA2 Good, Gail Ax back), Illinois (PSA3.5 VG+, Honest back), Kentucky (PSA1 Poor, Gail Ax back), Louisiana (PSA1 Poor, Honest back), Maine (PSA1 Poor, Gail Ax back), Massachusetts (PSA3 VG, Gail Ax back), Mississippi (PSA1 Poor(MK), Honest back) and Tennessee (PSA4 VG-EX(MK), Gail Ax back). Great lot for the set builder.
