Auction #8 - June 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/28/2021
The American Card Catalog has a number of obscure tobacco companies listed in the back of the section for the 19th century tobacco cards. They are generally listed in the N600 and up range and cover cards organized into small tobacco cards and larger cards and include some subjects from advertisers that are particularly difficult to obtain. Type Card collectors are constantly looking for tougher tobacco actress cards and this lot is no different with the N628 H. Bohl's & Company Actress cards. Not a lot is known about H. Bohl's but Jefferson Burdick cataloged them as N628 in the American Card Catalog. Non-sport.com lists (13) known subjects in the series.
This lot of (6) cards from the N628 H. Bohl's set includes a single back with the printed "Paniolo" advertisement. The cards run the gamut in condition from poor to VGEX. Three subjects along the top row appear to be skinned from the thicker cardboard back. The subjects in the lot include: Miss Dupree, Lillian Grubb, Leila Farrell, Alice Waldemere, Georgie Dennin and Kitty Clark.
