Auction #3 - October 2019

Leader Novelty Candy Company of Brooklyn, NY created a number of candy boxes to sell their wares in the 1930's to 1950's. Many of the boxes had perforated cards on them to be punched out and collected. Still others were shaped like cars or other figures and meant to be kept intact and collected. The Leader Novelty Fire Chief Toy and Candy set appears to be one of those sets meant to be collected intact. Each subject pictures some type of vehicle associated with fighting fires. The set is of an undetermined size. The boxes are about 5 inches long by 1.5 inches square around.
This lot includes a pair of boxes from the Leader Novelty Fire Chief Toy and Candy set including the F.D. Fire Chief car and the F.D. Aerial Truck. Box boxes are in about what I would consider VGEX condition. Phenomenal collectibles from the candy hey-day of the 1930's/1940's/1950's. I can imagine a young boy going into a dime store picking out this pair of boxes of candy and toys.
