The G40 Duke Actors / Actresses Tobacco Banner is one of two Duke Actor/Actress banners and the companion piece to the N70 set. The banner pictures the (50) cards in the set overlapping each other and arranged around a central actress figure with a deep red background overlooking her left shoulder. The banner has W.Duke Sons & Co of 2nd Ave & 38th street in New York and Durham, NC in the center of the picture. The top masthead reads "Our Leading Actors & Actresses in The Costumes of all Nations" and it notes right below that "From 500 BC to 1888 AD" noting the roles of the Actors and Actresses. The bottom of the poster says "Are packed in the boxes of Turkish Cross-Cut Cigarettes".

The banner measures 14-7/8" wide x 28-3/4" tall. Metal rims top and bottom are in excellent condition. It has archival tape holding it to the matboard front which is easily removed. The overall condition of this banner is remarkable for the time period and the method of construction. It has not had any restoration and it appears largely as it likely did in the period it was crafted. The deep colors of the banner have been preserved by the excellent care of our consignor and those that came before him.

Another museum-quality banner that could hang in the best of collections.
