The S81 Turkish Trophies Baseball silks is a (25) silk set featuring all the stars of the game of baseball in the early 1910's. The silks measure 7" x 9" and are numbered 86-110 in the series. The set is part of a larger group of redemption pieces from Turkish Trophies issued in the 1910's. The set features all the stars of the day like Christy Mathewson, Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson and the Chicago Cubs trio of fame--Tinkers, Evers and Chance. The silks are condition sensitive and are rarely found in high grade.
This single S81 large format Turkish Trophies silk is of the subject #108 Christy Mathewson. The silk is in EX to EXMT condition but has a line from left to right just at Mathewson's feet in the silk. The line could possibly be cleaned out and doesn't detract from what is a perfectly clean image and name plate.
