The S23 College Flag, Seal, Song Yell set is a set of (50) silks from Richmond Straight Cut brand. The silks can be found with or without the "Factory 25" at the top or bottom. The subjects in the set are many of the same subjects pictured on the leathers, silks and blankets of the 1910's tobacco insert era. The subjects picture the school pennant as the main picture on the top 1/2 of the silk with the school seal in the lower left as well as an image that the school may be known for in the lower right. Some of the silks picture sports that the school was known for and these silks are typically more popular--especially with those respective sports collectors. In addition to the images, the school song is centrally located in the middle of the silk with the school yell right below it. The silks are very popular with silk collectors and college collectors and specific silks are in demand due to the large number of alumni for some of the more popular schools in the set. The silks measure 3-7/8" wide by 5-1/2" high.
This single S23 pictures the school Oberlin (of Ohio) and is one of the few silks in the set to picture a sport. The sport pictured is a basketball player and is one of two schools to picture basketball subjects--the other being Rochester.
