Two of the seminal 1930's Goudey Sets were the R73 Indian Gum series and the R137 Goudey Sky Birds Set. Both sets were very popular for Goudey and helped cement their place as one of, if not the leading gum companies of the 1930's and early 1940's. The card sets issued by Goudey were issued with gum in wax pack wrappers. From the wax pack wrappers, Goudey offered a number of redemption offers. Generally for X number of wrappers and often a few cents, a ring or hat or pennant or some other redemption item could be had from Goudey in Boston, Massachusetts.
This lot is for a pair of rings from Goudey. The first is for a redemption ring from Goudey's Indian Gum series. Issued for a number of years between 1933 and 1947 in a couple different sets, Goudey offered a premium ring featuring an Indian head. This ring is in VGEX to EX condition and clean. The second ring is a redemption item from the 1941 Goudey Sky Birds set and includes a two toned ring with a silver type base and gold addition of a pair of wings and a propeller. This ring is in EXMT with just a slight blemish on the top of the left side of the pair of wings. Beautiful pair of redemption pieces from Goudey during the hey day of gum card distribution.
