The N86 Duke Tobacco Scenes of Perilous occupations is an interesting set depicting occupations of the 1880's that could be considered 'perilous'. Some are obviously jobs that could be perilous like Artic Explorer and Electric Linesman. Others depict scoundrels that could be caught such as at a quiet game of poker or a safe robber. Still others depict people in conflict with animals such as an arab attacked by a lion, fox hunting, horse training or even a snake charmer in India. One of the more interesting perilous occupations is an early baseball look titled 'a bad decision by the umpire'. The cards can be found with muted pastel fronts and a text missive about the job on the back with no checklist.
The condition of this set breaks down as follows: VGEX to EX condition (9 cards), VG to VG+ (21 cards) and GVG or Less (20). There are (4) cards that have some type of corner notch in them and within the lower grade cards, most were downgraded due to a very small spot of paper loss on the back of the card. With a few upgrades, this set could present as a nice mid grade set.
