The N2 Allen & Ginter American Indian Chiefs is the small format companion to the N36 larger format set in Lot #1. The N2 set pictures the same (50) American Indians using the same interior picture artwork as the larger format set. The artwork for this set would be the basis for countless other sets into even the 1930's. The set pictures Indian Chiefs from all over North America with subjects like Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph and others. The set represents possibly one of, if not the most popular sets of the 19th century small format chromolithographed cards. They are highly sought and very popular with collectors not only of tobacco cards but of Western and Indian ephemera.
The condition composition of this set is as follows:EX to EXMT (6 cards or 12%) - Agate Arrow Point, Hairy Bear, Mad Bear, Noon Day, Red Shirt and Rushing Bear.
VGEX to EX (29 cards or 58%) - Always Riding, Arkikita, Big Elk, Big Razor, Black Hawk - Sac and Fox, British Ioway, Bull Head, Chief Gall, Chief Joseph, Geronimo, Great Bear, Great War Chief, Iron Bull, John Grass, Johnyellow Flower, Keokuk, Keokuk's Son, King of the Crows, L:ean Wolf, Man and Chief, Many Horns, Red Bird, Red Cloud, Red Thunder, Spotted Tail, Striker, True Eagle, War Captain and Young Whirlwind. GVG to VG (8 cards or 16%) - Big Chief, Black Eye, Caytanita, Crow's Breast, Deer Ham, Sitting Bull, Wetcunie, Young Black Dog. This is a beautiful set that, with just a handful of upgrades, could be an above average set ready for an advanced collection.
