The N158 Duke Honest Long Cut War Photographs set is an albumen real photo card set similar to many of the card sets of the day. The subject matter is the 1898 Spanish-American War ships and officers. The Spanish-American war began when the U.S.S. Maine sank in Havana, Cuba harbor in February of 1898. The set includes what appears to be a total of (28) cards with (13) Officers and (15) ship cards. The cards of the officers are formatted in a vertical orientation and the ships are mostly in horizontal orientation with a couple vertical. The cards are full bleed photos not having borders like most of the 19th century albumen cards.
This near set of (26/28) cards from the N158 Duke Honest Long Cut War Photographs is in Fair to EX condition with most cards being VG/VGEX. Three cards have been graded and include Atlanta USN (PSA5 EX), Iowa USN (PSA5 EX) and General Merritt (PSA5 EX). Beautiful near set of this popular turn of the 20th Century War issue.
