The N137 Duke Tobacco Transparencies set is one of the oddities of the 19th-century tobacco card era. The cards are oversized like the other Dukes from the larger Duke ACC run of sets. The cards are Hold To Light or (HTL) where if held to the light, you can see more than just what is seen when looking at the card. Typically, the white spot in the middle of the card illuminates more details that help the scene make more sense and provide a more complete view of the scene on the card. The cards are one of the tougher series within the large Duke's run and, due to their extreme thinness, are very difficult to find in any condition, let alone higher grade.
This lot of (4) cards from the N137 Duke Tobacco Honest Long Cut "Transparencies" includes cards that range in condition from VG to EX and are largely in better condition than the average copies found. This is one of the tougher Duke oversized card sets. The four subjects included in the lot are: Columbus Monument, The Palisades, Washington Arch and the White House. Great lot for the set builder of this tougher than average set.
