The R198 Goudey Gum Rainbow Radio Rascals cards were premiums issued by Goudey around 1930. A (6) card set, they are printed in monotone colors.....red, green, blue, violet and the like. The backs advertise Rainbow Bubble Gum from Goudey. The cards narrate the history of gum on the back of each card from when the sap is removed from trees until the gum is created and distributed. The set is very scarce and many advanced type collections do not have a type card.
This lot includes a pair of R198 Rainbow Radio Rascals cards--cards #5 and #6. In addition, the lot includes an original mailing envelope for the cards and a piece of cardboard that came inside. And finally, the lot contains a Rainbox Bubble Gum box header type card. The header card is in VG to VGEX condition with a light crease in the upper right. The pair of cards are in VGEX to EX condition and the mailing envelope and cardboard are in about EX condition. Fantastic lot of tough, early Goudey pieces.
