The F1 Dixie Lids Circus Animals set is a (24) card set of die cut round lids with tabs that were intended to be the lids of small tubs of ice cream. Dixie used the lids to advertise for different companies that they printed the cups and lids for. Throughout all the Dixie Lids sets, collectors will find many different companies who used these promotions to help sell ice cream. This F1 set pictures individual circus animals on what would be the inside part of the lid near the ice cream. There was normally a sheet of wax paper over the inside picture so the ice cream would not damage the collectible lid. The lids are often found with the tabs pulled off either by kids when they opened the ice cream or by collectors back in the day.
This set of (24) lids is in mixed condition ranging from Poor to VG with most being in the G range having some type of issue. Creasing, back issues (6 cards), missing tabs (5 cards) or other issues. Still a complete set of one of the iconic food issue sets. Company advertising on the backs of these lids include Breyers, Abbotts, Philadelphia Dairy Company and Supplee.
