The N2 Allen & Ginter American Indian Chiefs is the small format companion to the N36 larger format set in Lot #1. The N2 set pictures the same (50) American Indians using the same interior picture artwork as the larger format set. The artwork for this set would be the basis for countless other sets into even the 1930's. The set pictures Indian Chiefs from all over North America with subjects like Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph and others. The set represents possibly one of, if not the most popular sets of the 19th century small format chromolithographed cards. They are highly sought and very popular with collectors not only of tobacco cards but of Western and Indian ephemera.
This set of (50) cards is in mixed condition. (18) of the cards fall in the VGEX to EX range, (12) of the cards fall in the GVG to VG range with just moderate wear and (20) of the cards have some level of back damage from a small dot to 70-80% loss. All card fronts and backs have been scanned in high resolution for viewing. The card fronts, for the most part, are very clean and pleasing and the set displays well.
