The Drummond Tobacco Company of St. Louis, Missouri, issued a few sets in the late 1880's. The N437 set pictures actresses with their portrait in oval much like the Lorillard or Between the Acts tobacco series and the N438 series pictures 'Bathing Girls' in an oval portrait with a line drawn often-bawdy picture.
This lot is for a pair of Drummond Tobacco Cards to include an N437 Actress card of Gertrude Rivers in GVG condition and an N438 Bathing Girl picture in about GVG condition as well. The N438 pictures a bathing girl with large bosoms and just a small amount of leg showing over her hose. Probably a bit scandalous for the day, obviously using line drawn photos so as not to inflame people even more. Neat pair of type cards from a couple of series that are much tougher than the normal "N" card series.
