The N70 Duke's Tobacco Actors & Actresses set of (50) cards pictures famous Actors and Actresses in costume from one of their memorable roles. The set is one of two actor and actress small format sets that Duke Tobacco issued in the late 1880's to early 1890's. Both sets picture many famous people of the day including Mary Anderson, Sandra Bernhardt, Edwin Booth, Joe Jefferson, Lilly Langtry and Lillian Russell.
The overall condition of this set trends towards the VGEX to EX range with just a few lower condition cards. 1-2 cards are in G condition with one having pencil checklists on the back. The cards can be found with a double-vertical line between the checklist columns on the back or no line. This set is comprised by (8) cards with the NO LINE version and (42) cards of the WITH LINE version. This set would be a great addition to any 19th century collection.
