Cabinet photos were used for tobacco advertising from the mid-1880's through the turn of the century and the end of what we know as the cabinet card era. This cabinet card is from Old Chief Cheroots and advertises 5 cheroots for 5 cents. This photo was likely a premium for the return of (20) wrappers as noted on the paper label tipped onto the back of the cabinet.
This cabinet measures about 7" x 9" and is in EX condition and very clean. The paper label tipped onto the back with the redemption offer has a corner folded but is in otherwise nice condition. There is some very light foxing on the right side when viewing the reverse.
