The N566 Newsboy series pictures Actresses and numbers into the hundreds of cards. The Newsboy cabinets were likely point-of-sale giveaways for buying the Newsboy brand of tobacco. The cabinets are standard 4-1/4" x 6-1/2" cabinets and have an albumen photo adhered to a red-inked mount advertising Newsboy of New York at the bottom front of the cabinet. Cabinets are blank-backed and often numbered on either the cabinet front or within the photo field itself and, occasionally both places. Many actresses have multiple poses or can be found with different mounts and the set offers the variation collector some real opportunities.
This lot includes a single N567 Newsboy cabinet of Fannie Ward from the green mount series. The number is #377. This card has a very tough advertisement on the back for Blis Long Cut Tobacco. The Bliss cards are rarely found. The card is in what should be considered VG condition with a lower left back issue and some light creasing mostly visible on the back of the card.
