One of the most widely collected 1930's sets is the R89 Mickey Mouse set. The set pictures 96 cards of Mickey Mouse and his friends and their escapades. Mickey Mouse was at the height of his popularity in the 1930's and Gum, Inc of Philadelphia issued the Mickey Mouse set in two 48 card series. As with many of the American issues, the series had a matching Canadian counterpart from O-Pee-Chee that was cataloged as V303.
This lot contains a Mickey Mouse wrapper from the V303 O-Pee-Chee set. The colorful wrapper pictures Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Clarabell on one of the side panels with Mickey reading the newspaper and an ad for the album on the other panel. The center section of the wrapper pictures Mickey in his characteristic red pants and shoes and white gloves while advertising for Mickey Mouse Bubble Gum. The manufacturer--O-Pee-Chee of London, Ontario is noted to Mickey's left.
This wrapper is in VG to VGEX condition, the only real flaws being some nicks along the top border and a 3/4" tear in the bottom left borer. The wrapper displays excellently and is a great addition to any wrapper collection or a great tag along item for that complete V303 or R89 set.
