This banner is akin to the cataloged tobacco banners in the American Card Catalog in that it has the metal strip at the top and bottom. It also has subject matter of a female military person and could be assumed to be associated to the N224 Kinney Military Set. The difference is that it does not picture any cards from any set. The rich red background and the clean crisp graphics of the female soldier are a beautiful combination with the gold printing of Sweet Caporal Cigarettes at the top. The banner also pictures a Sweet Caporal package in the lower left and the byline "The purest form in which Tobacco can be smoked" in the lower right. The piece measures 17-1/4" wide x 30-1/2" tall.
The banner suffers some condition problems--primarily in the lower 1/4 of the banner. Some paper issues on the left and right side along with what appears to be some type of water or liquid stain on the left side near the tobacco package. Overall, this is an incredible piece, however, and one that would fit into the best banner collections extant.
