The R67 Heroes of the Sea is one of many small strip sets from the 1930's and 1940's. Believed to be given away with candy purchases as point-of-sale premiums, most of these sets were issued in strips of (8) cards and R67 is no exception to that. Issued in (3) strips of (8) cards to comprise the set, it pictures colorful renditions of many famous Heroes of the Sea from early times with Balboa, Christopher Columbus, Magellan, Ponce De Leon and Sir Francis Drake to Revolutionary War hero John Paul Jones to Spanish American War hero George Dewey, among others. The cards are numbered on both the front and back and the backs carry a small, couple sentence biography on the hero pictured on the front.
This set of (24) contains cards almost all in VGEX to EX condition with the exception of #471 and 472 which are GVG to VG and card #469 which is F/G condition. Great set.
