The 1966 Topps Superman set is a (66) card set picturing black and white images from the popular television series of the same name. Topps issued the cards with or without gum and the wrappers note these two variations. There is a single without gum wrapper and a trio of variations of the "With Gum" wrapper.
An absolutely gorgeous set! This series is based on the “Adventures of Superman” TV show starring George Reeves and Phyllis Coates which aired from 1952 through 1958. The fronts contain black-and-white photographic images from the show and the 1951 movie, “Superman and the Mole Men.” Cards #1-44 have narrative backs of two varieties, while the backs of cards #46-66 form a puzzle image of George Reeves akimbo as Superman. Although this set contains a number of off-center cards (normal for this series), the condition is high, and most cards appears to be pack-fresh. All cards mounted in Cardsaver 1 plastic holders & displayed in plastic pages inside a sturdy looseleaf binder. Absolutely beautiful NM condition overall, and very tough to replicate in today’s market. This lot also contain several photo images from the show, an original 118 “Superman” DC comic from the mid-1950s, and a replica of “Action Comics” 1938 #1 with the first appearance of Superman.
