The R197 Blatz Gum Screen Stars set was issued in 1920 and could technically be part of the "E" classification. The "R" classification typically begins around 1930 or so. The set are slightly oversized at 3-1/2" by 5-1/2" and sized about the size of an exhibit card. There are (20) cards in the set and a companion string-bound album was issued to house the cards. The most famous subject in the book is the card that pictures the cast from "Our Gang". The cards are black and white, printed on very thin paper, and have advertising and a checklist on the back of the card.
This lot of (14) cards from the R197 Blatz Gum Screen Stars set have all been PSA-Graded and includes the following: PS2 Good (1 card: #19), PSA4 VG-EX (2 cards: #9 and #12), PSA5 EX (#4, #7, #8, #11, #13, #14, #15, #16 and #17) and PSA6 EX-MT (2 cards: #5 and #10). Great lot of these oversized cards graded by PSA.
