The N637 Sub Rosa Celebrities, Presidents and Rulers set was likely issued during the 1880's hey day of tobacco cards. The cards are normal sized tobacco cards measuring 1-3/8" by 2-11/16" and are sepia line drawings or photo cards picturing their subjects.
This lot is for a single type card from the N637 Sub Rosa Celebrities, Presidents and Rulers sets picturing John Jay. The card has been graded PSA3 VG and pictures a line drawing of Jay with decent photo clarity. The card also identifies Jay as the "1st Chief Justice US". Jay had a long political career from the late 18th century through his death in 1829. Jay was one of the delegates to the First and Second Continental Congresses as well as the 6th President of the Continental Congress, Minister to Spain and the second governor of New York, among other posts.
