It is rare to find large-format advertising from either 19th or 20th century tobacco sets other than the infrequently seen Allen & Ginter and other 19th century tobacco banners. Large format "T" advertising is even more scarce. Especially advertising that pictures cards that are part of a "T" series set. This lot contains one of those once-in-a-lifetime pieces that we have never seen before. The piece is a trifold advertising piece on thick cardboard advertising for Just Suits tobacco. Some of the images of the cards on the two side panels are from the T31 set of cards from Just Suits. Interestingly, some of the numbers match the final numbers in the complete set and others were not released or represent another image for that particular number.
Eight of the ten card images on the left panel were finalized images in the T31 set. Card #5 and #10 on those panels were not images in the final T31 set. None of the card images on the right panel were included in the finalized T31 set. The center image #15, entitled "Cats and Kittens" was also not a card in the finalized T31 set. It is a print that has been attached to the actual advertising folder itself.
The side panels measure 13" wide by 35" tall and the center panel measures 25.5" wide by 36" tall. There is evident water damage about 1/3 up on the advertising piece. The center panel also has a number of issues on the top rounded border. The two side panels and upper part of the center panel are relatively clean and the color still remains strong with no fading.
