This lot includes an amazing Gum Inc "Match It" Point of Sale Header Card that measures about 8" x 10" and is in clean condition on the front of the header with some surface issues on the back which are visible from the large format scans. The header was identified as Gum Inc from a hakes lot of vintage Gum company photographs that were sold at the link below. The product appeared to be a piece of gum and at least one Matchbook Cover. Matchbook cover collecting was at it's zenith during the 1920's and 1930's and matchbook covers not only advertised businesses in nearly every city, state and country, but also were issued in groups of booklets that were themed like baseball and football players, actors and actresses and many other topics.
The photo in the Hakes auction shows some of the matchbooks in the Gum Inc box with the header card. In addition to the header card, the savvy consignor was able to find two photo-matched matchbook covers that were included in the pictured box of gum/matchbook packages. The two matchbook covers are in the upper right corner of the Gum Inc box shown in the photo. The matchbooks advertise for different companies and were included in the Gum Inc box. The lot offers an opportunity to pick up a piece of Gum Inc collectables that are outside the mainstream Gum Inc sets of the 1930's.
