Duke & Sons was one of the largest, if not the largest, cigarette manufacturers during the latter part of the 19th century. Duke, Kinney, Kimball, Allen & Ginter and a host of other companies fought during this time to maintain and build their shares of business. To do this, they issued advertising in all manner of forms and sizes. Banners, Window cards, insert cards, leaflets and many other types of advertising were used to sway the smoker to their brands.
This lot is for a single standard sized Duke Tobacco Preferred Stock Cigarettes picturing a young woman on stacks of Preferred Stock Cigarette cases. The cabinet measures 4-1/2" by 6-1/2" and is in VGEX to EX condition. Just a fantastic piece of period tobacco advertising.
