The CDV or Carte de Viste were small format photos that typically measure around 2-1/2" by 4". They generally have a slightly smaller albumen photo that has been mounted to the mount that is that size. The CDV were most commonly found in the mid-1850's through early 1870's. Beyond that date the larger 'cabinet' photo supplanted them as the more common type of photo.
This lot is for a single CDV picturing Abraham Lincoln and Civil War generals. Lincoln is pictured front and center at the bottom row of the CDV and an older Abner Doubleday is pictured on the far right in the 6th row down. Great, clean copy of this popular CDV picturing the purported father of Baseball and other important figures in US History.
Fantastic Civil War Generals Composite CDV with Abner Doubleday!
