The E255 Kis-Me Gum Tradesmen set is one of a number of card sets that Kis-Me Gum of Louisville, KY created during the early part of the 20th century. The cards picture children in some type of vocational scene including: Barber, Carpenter, Cook, Shoemaker, Stone Mason and Tailor. The Barber is the only picture of the (6) that shows an African American child. All the cards have the Kis-Me square advertising on the fronts of the cards and the backs have a small note of advertising the different cards in the series and a note that for two cents in stamps and 2 Kis-Me gum wrappers the sender could have a full set of (6) cards.
This pair of cards from the E255 series are in about VG to EX condition. The Shoemaker card is clean with no creasing and the Tailor has a small crease in the upper left corner. Both backs are unusually clean for the issue. The cards are printed on a stock that often shows extreme yellowing and this pair are relatively clean.
