The General Baking Company issued the D4 series likely in the 1950's as bottom trays for packages of donuts or cookies. The cards picture simple drawings of various animals, ships or aircraft. The cards are tough to find in nice shape as the food soiled the card backs. The cards from the D4 series are lettered "A", "B" or "C".
The D7 Series of cards were apparently issued by the Bond Bread company using the cards as bottom stiffeners for packages of donuts. Like the companion D4 series of cards from General Baking, the D7 series feature basic drawings of Transport, Animals, Flags, Ships and Uniforms. The D7 cards measure 5 5/8" W by 1 7/8" H .
This lot of (5) cards from the D4 and D7 set includes the following subjects: D4 (3 ship cards: B2 Aircraft Carrier, B3 Cruiser and B7 Minesweeper) and D7 (2 cards: #6 Vickers Viscount and #7 D.H. Ambassador) cards are GVG to VG condition and about average condition for the sets. These cards are tough to find and have gained popularity with collectors.
