Hopalong Cassidy was created in 1904 and between film, television and radio, Hopalong (Hoppy to his fans) became so popular he was everywhere. He was a marketing manager's best weapon. He was on the cover of magazines, bread, cereal and on most everything else. Topps sought to capitalize on this phenomenon right after the television show moved to the radio. Radio was still going strong in the 1950's and Hoppy occupied a top ten spot for years on the radio. William Boyd played Hoppy and earned millions for doing so. The images in the Topps Hopalong Cassidy set are of Boyd and his adventures on the television show.
This complete set of (230) Cards from the 1950 Topps Hopalong Cassidy set are largely in VG to EX condition, averaging around VGEX with a few lesser. There are (3) cards graded by PSA and includes the following subjects: #142 (PSA6 EXMT), #173 (PSA4 VGEX) and #179 (PSA4 VGEX).
