The 1949 Bowman Wild West Set is an (180) card set. The cards are small format like all the 1949 Bowman cards and are broken down into (8) different subsets each having its own numbering scheme beginning with a letter from A to H and a number. The series include Winning the West #A-1 to A-40, Indian Customs #B-1 to B-20, Famous Characters #C-1 to C-20, Indian Warfare #D-1 to D-20, Cowboy Life #E-1 to E-20, Law and Order #F-1 to F-20, River Days #G-1 to G-20 and Western Stars #H-1 to H-20.
This set is a particularly clean VGEX to EXMT set with just a couple in lower grade and a few higher graded ones. In addition to the card set, there is a copy of the Classics Illustrated Comic Book #62 entitled Bret Harte's Western Stories. The book is in VF condition and very clean.
Originating in the collection of a very advanced PSA collector, this set and a number of others in the auction are high mid-grade sets mostly free of creases and individually sleeved in semi-rigids housed in 4 pocket pages in binders. As with this set, many of the sets are mostly ungraded with some nice or key cards graded as noted.
