Auction #14 - June 2023

The artwork of many of the United States tobacco and gum sets was borrowed for counterparts in other countries--either issued by the U.S. Counterpart or another company entirely. Artwork for the N2 Allen & Ginter Indians may be the most often copied artwork--being used for issues in numerous countries as late as 30 years after the fact. The 1930's artwork of many of the U.S. Gum issues also seemed to be a favorite to copy. Whether Dick Tracy or G-Men or Horrors of War, sets in other countries like Canada, France, Germany, Belgium and others pop up from time to time and are a way for collectors to extend their collection--especially for sets they love.
This complete set of (72) cards in the 1930's Belga (Beligum) Far West Album , although glued in, appear to be in EX to EXMT condition. The album in which they are mounted is in about VGEX to EX condition.
